The Fourth Annual Youngstown State Baseball Alumni Game and Golf Outing will be held the weekend of Sept. 21-22 in the Youngstown area.
The events will be held in memory of Kevin Yarabinec, a four-year letter winner and member of the YSU pitching staff from 2014-17, who was killed in a car accident this past April.
The alumni game will take place on Friday, Sept. 21, at Eastwood Field in Niles. YSU’s 2018-19 team will have its first intrasquad game of the year at 2 p.m., and the alumni contest will start at 6 p.m. Donations will be accepted to help pay for expenses.
The golf outing will be held the following afternoon, Saturday, Sept. 22, at 1:30 p.m. at the Youngstown Country Club. The cost will be $120 per golfer or $480 per foursome, which will cover golf, lunch at the turn, a catered dinner and all drinks. Hole sponsorships for $100 are also available.
Yarabinec served as both a closer and member of the weekend rotation during his Penguins career. He was a Horizon League All-Freshman Team honoree and got the win in relief in the Horizon League Championship Game in 2014. He went on to lead the squad in wins and saves as a junior and finished his career ranking sixth in school history in saves.
To honor Yarabinec’s memory, the 2018 YSU Baseball Alumni Game and Golf Outing will be played in his name.
Alumni can register for the weekend’s events by completing the form on YSUsports.com or emailing head coach Dan Bertolini at firstname.lastname@example.org.
