Many players venture into the sport of golf predisposed to the notion that it may be the most difficult game they’ve ever player. If you’re a poor putter, it will be much more frustrating. As most casual players will never rip deep drives onto the green, most will need to develop a strong short game to enjoy the sport to the fullest.
Developing your putting stroke may be the most important technique that any casual player can develop. Rather than completely rebuilding your swing, consider taking in some of the content found on the subject in this George Gankas golf lesson. Unlike many other coaches, George Gankas golf lessons aim to improve the existing talents in a player while working to correct any flawed motion found in their game.
The first step to setting up your successful putt involves finding your ball on the green. Yes this may sound obvious but you wouldn’t be the first player to hit someone else’s golf ball and cause a bit of frustration during a round.
Next, golfers must get a read on the break of the green. If the area you’re putting from on the green has any declines or inclines, these conditions will need to be evaluated and factored into your putting strategy. While many greens are flat and simple to hole, be prepared for varied terrain especially if you’re playing a course for the first time.
Once you have a read on the break, you will need to line up your putt. Many players place a marker behind their golf ball in order to line up the path they wish to send their shot on. Some players also utilize the logo on their golf ball to achieve the same effect.
After establishing your desired putting path, players must line their putter up with the ball. Matching the line on the golf ball with the line found on most putters will be the easiest way to ensure complete symmetry in the shot. Players must then line their feet up so that their toes are parallel with their desired path. This footing will ensure that the putt travels straight to the hole.
Now you’re ready to make contact with the ball and begin your putt. Keeping your head down after making contact for about a second, you can then turn and take a look at your putt sinking into the hole.
